The army on the table is, you guessed it, Blood Ravens from the infamous Dawn of War series. Why? Well I like painting red, and I originally wanted to paint a Dark Angels army but felt if I came to a tabletop one day and said I'm playing my DA, but I'm using vanilla rules. But if I played Blood Ravens I could say, to my friendly opponent "I'm playing my BR with DA rules." or "I'm playing my BR with Blood Angel rules."
Remember I haven't played since the third edition. And I'm looking forward to playing again. Now I'm hearing around from different forums that the seventh edition rules let you play whatever the hell you want to on the table. Something bout allies and attachments. Oh if this is true, after painting my core I'm going to go ahead and paint up some Death Wing terminators. Lots of fun, or possibly Ravenwing bikes. I dig that salvo rule. I watched someone on youtube using Ravenwing bikes and I saw this salvo rule, which I thought was cool. ...deadly!
So, in my preemptive project box, I have a tactical squad almost ready to be primed. Another thing - I'm thinking about possibly hand painting, going back to the roots of miniature painting, but then again I was a general model painter back in the day and the airbrush has always been a tool. So we'll see! Stay tuned.
Randy
